In the last year, nearly 100 Roosevelt graduates have joined the Professional Mentoring Program to mentor current students. Many have served as guest speakers on campus or have grown their professional network at Roosevelt events. We’re touched by our alumni and their willingness to dedicate their time to inspire, educate and prepare students for life after graduation.
As we approach Roosevelt’s 75th anniversary, Alumni Relations is excited to continue to expand opportunities for graduates to get involved, connect and engage with the University in meaningful ways.

Two new initiatives have launched this fall: the Women’s Leadership Council and Roosevelt’s Young Professionals.
Women’s Leadership Council (WLC)
The WLC is an organized group of women alumni and professionals, dedicated to affecting change for current and future generations of women leaders in all stages of their careers. The inclusive community is committed to empowering women leaders to better serve their communities, organizations and selves.
The council is committed to building connections, discussing challenging issues in the workforce and creating space for women to share their stories while supporting their personal and professional growth.
In 2020, the WLC will host a series of panels, networking opportunities and more around the theme of women’s empowerment in the 21st century.

Roosevelt Young Professionals
Starting and advancing a career as a young professional can be both exciting and intimidating. It’s easier to navigate the front-end of a career when you have strong connections who want to help you reach your personal and professional goals.
One of the biggest benefits of being an alum is having a broad network to tap into for advice or leads to potential jobs. There isn’t a better-suited person to encourage a fellow graduate or relate to them than someone who has walked in their shoes.

“Our graduates work in Fortune 500 companies, schools, startups and nonprofits across Chicago,” said Roosevelt alum Farhan Shakeel (BA Information Technology, ’17). “Your connections here could be the key to learning about an innovative new organization or unlocking the skills you need to advance.”
Alumni Relations is teaming up with a group of new and upcoming graduates to organize more opportunities that give our alumni access to their Roosevelt connections. In the new year, we will prioritize networking, social engagement and professional development programming to support our emerging professionals.
We look forward to sharing more as we move into Roosevelt’s 75th anniversary.
