Piyas Bhattacharjee’s Bio

The color palette always enticed Piyas Bhattacharjee as a young child. Falling in love with art at a very tender age and being trained in it, she feels solace and joy even today. Trained at the School of Art Institute, Chicago and after obtaining an B and MS in Computer Science and working for a while in the IT field, she decided to quit her job, pursue her passion and take a step forward.

Piyas started the journey over 6 years back when she decided to bring her love of art to other children. She started with just four kids and today works with over 300 students nationwide (also international). Over the course of time, her company Paisley Academy Arts & Fabrics LLC was born.

Several of Paisley Academy Arts & Fabrics students’ artwork have been selected and exhibited in many public events including one at the Indian Consulate, Chicago.

Piyas also conducts in-person and virtual workshops for adults both private, corporate (Baxter, Abbvie, financial services company, etc.) and other organizations as well.  Through the workshops, she promotes Kalamkari and Batik art.

Through all of her work, she hopes to keep her cultural traditions alive through art.
