When we share our work, we create an opportunity for others to offer new perspectives on our ideas and for them to be inspired to ask new questions, after learning about ours. For students, there are a number of local, regional and national conferences geared towards promoting undergraduate and graduate student work. Professional conferences offer undergraduate students the opportunity to explore what it means to be a professional or scholar in your field; they are also good venues for early and advanced graduate students to share their work.

Conducting research opens many opportunities in which you can display and present your work. One of the ways you can do so is through publishing your research in an academic journal. Going through the process of finding a journal and publishing your work adds to your research experience and prepares you for advancement in your field of interest. One of the best ways to gain exposure to the varied topics people explore in your field is to attend a professional conference. Every discipline has a number of professional associations and almost all will hold an annual or biannual conference. Research presentations vary by format (oral presentation, poster presentation, or performance/exhibition) and by discipline. Here you will find advice for preparing presentations; however you should also speak to your faculty mentor or someone else in the field where you will be presenting.
All Roosevelt students and recent alumni are welcome to participate in the Roosevelt Student Research & Inquiry Symposium (RSRIS). This research week is a professional opportunity for students to present their research findings and creative works to the larger Roosevelt community. The 2024 RSRIS will take place online, April 8-12th.
