University Provost Search Committee Finalized

Dear Roosevelt Community,

I hope your summer is off to a wonderful start. I am pleased to provide the Roosevelt community an update on the search for a permanent university provost.

As announced previously, beginning this summer, Roosevelt University will conduct a national search for the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs position. Over the past several weeks, Professor Tom Kernan and Dean Kelly Wentz-Hunter have led the effort to establish the Provost Search Committee. As elected by their peers, here are the members of the Committee:

  • Vanessa Ayala, Graduate CAS Student
  • Regina Buccola, Professor of English
  • Alicia Butler, Assistant Provost for Student Progress
  • Stuart Folse, Professor of Core Music Studies
  • Dennis Frank, Associate Professor of Counseling and Human Services
  • Gail Gadberry, Associate Vice President for Budget and Financial Planning
  • Monique Herard, Assistant Teaching Professor of Educational Policy and Administration
  • Yeeseon Kwon, Associate Professor of Keyboard Musicianship
  • Ellen O’Brien, Associate Professor of English & WGS
  • Debra Orr, Associate Professor of Organizational Leadership
  • Chandler Sullivan, Undergraduate CCPA Student
  • Susan Weiner, Associate Professor of Biology
  • Kelly Wentz-Hunter, Co-dean of the College of Science, Health, and Pharmacy (committee chair)

Non-voting members

  • Toyia K. Stewart, Vice President of Human Resources (search advocate)
  • Natalie Henry, Executive Assistant to the Provost (administrative assistant)

Members of the committee were elected or appointed in accordance with and assistance from the Faculty Handbook, the academic councils and the administrative assembly. Toyia K. Stewart, Vice President of Human Resources, will provide assistance and guidance to the committee as a search advocate and non-voting liaison. Natalie Henry will provide administrative assistance for the search.

The position will now be broadly advertised, and it is anticipated that the committee will review potential candidates early in the fall semester. Candidate interviews will take place during the fall semester as well. The starting date for the position will be dependent on the selected candidate’s availability.

More information will be forthcoming once the search process has begun. Thanks to all those who volunteered your time and expertise to be a part of this committee. We look forward to including our entire Roosevelt community as part of the search for this crucial appointment. As always, I welcome your thoughts and feedback.

With Warm Regards,

Ali R. Malekzadeh, Ph.D.
President
