National Search for University Provost

Dear Roosevelt Community,

I hope you have had a restful and reflective Memorial Day weekend. I wanted to take this opportunity to provide the Roosevelt community an update on the search for a permanent university provost.

Beginning this summer, Roosevelt University will conduct a national search for the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs position. We will follow the Faculty Handbook in forming the search committee; Tom Kernan will be in touch with the academic councils soon. Dean Kelly Wentz-Hunter will be the chair of the search committee.

As soon as the committee is formed, we will advertise the position broadly. I anticipate that the committee will review the candidates’ credentials early in the fall semester and that candidate interviews will take place during the fall semester as well. The starting date for the position will be dependent on the selected candidate’s availability. Mablene Krueger will continue as Interim Provost until the permanent replacement starts.

I want to express my gratitude to Mablene for quickly and ably stepping into her interim role this past spring. Her leadership has ensured that the Roosevelt academy is able to move forward until the permanent replacement is found. Mablene will, of course, return to her permanent position as COO of the Schaumburg Campus once our new provost begins.

More information will be forthcoming once the search committee is formed and the search process has begun. Thanks to our entire community for your patience and diligence as we work to fill this vital position within our university. As always, I welcome your thoughts and feedback.

With Warm Regards,

Ali R. Malekzadeh, Ph.D.
President
