“Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere.” ~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Roosevelt mourns the loss of George Floyd and the many other Black men, women and children, who have lost their lives to police violence in this country. We mourn the loss of those whose names we know and for those whose names have been lost to time. America has a dark history of state sanctioned violence towards black and brown bodies and it is long past time for a radical change in our system. At Roosevelt, we are committed to walking alongside those in protest and are committed to bending the moral arc of the universe toward justice and away from the structural racism that allows these deaths to occur.

We are committed to supporting our students, faculty, and staff during this turbulent time, but particularly for the Black members of our community who live with the daily fear and trauma brought on by these heinous events. It is for these reasons that I reaffirm that #blacklivesmatter. Know that we will get through this together and we stand with you
