Exploring Chicago: The Loop
Welcome or welcome back, Lakers! Located in the heart of Chicago, Roosevelt University gives us the opportunity to take advantage of the area. Here are some of my favorite spots near campus that are budget-friendly and perfect photo ops!
Design Museum Of Chicago:
Location: 108 N State St.
This museum and gallery inside Block 37 is always free and open to the public.

The opening of Chain Reaction was a success! Thanks to everyone who came and checked out the poster show, took selfies in front of our murals, and explored Keep Moving: Shifting Gears. We'll be closed today through Saturday, but both galleries reopen on Tuesday, November 27. Our shops are the perfect place to get started on your holiday shopping! Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving, y'all. We're thankful for YOU!
Chicago Cultural Center:
Location: 78 E Washington St.
Built in 1987, the Chicago Cultural Center contains the world’s largest stained glass Tiffany dome. Admission and tours are free. The building was first opened to be a library, but now serves as a space for free public events and exhibitions.
Macy’s on State:
Location: 111 N State St.
The building was built in 1893 and is full of intricate designs. The most captivating feature, in my opinion, is the Tiffany ceiling which can be seen up close on the 5th floor. The Tiffany dome ceiling is made up of 1.6 million pieces of iridescent glass and is the largest Tiffany mosaic in the world!
Revival Food Hall in The National:
Location: 125 S Clark St.
The National was built in 1907 by D.H. Burnham & Company, famous Chicago based architects. The first floor of the building has Revival Food Hall, which houses 15 popular Chicago restaurants. Past the food hall is a small exhibit about the history of the building and the area, the admission to the building and exhibit is free!

The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel:
Location: 12 S Michigan Ave.
The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel is a building located on Michigan Ave., only a few blocks north of Roosevelt University. The first floor of the building contains Shake Shack and Fairgrounds coffee shop.
The Drawing Room, located on the second floor, is a great spot to relax. Although the Drawing Room has a restaurant and bar, the area also serves as a lounge where you can spend your morning studying.
Also located on the second floor past the lobby and Drawing Room is the Game Room where you can enjoy drinks, snacks, and bar games.
The top floor of the building has Cindy’s which is a rooftop restaurant with a terrace and glass ceiling that offers a beautiful view of Lake Michigan.
The Palmer House Hotel:
Location: 17 E Monroe St.
The Palmer House dates back to 1875 and is home to the first brownie! The brownie was one of the many recipes invented for the 1893 Columbian Exposition World’s Fair in Chicago. The lobby to the hotel, located on the second floor, is open to the public. The lobby is beautiful and worth a visit! You can even order The Palmer House Brownie which still uses the original recipe, or you can try making it on your own by clicking here.

I would like to share some pictures of this beautiful Hotel “Palmer House” Chicago. A little history for you: • • The first (known as "The Palmer") was built as a wedding present from Potter Palmer to his bride Bertha Honoré. It opened on September 26, 1871, but burned down just 13 days later on October 9, 1871 in the Great Chicago Fire. Palmer immediately set to work rebuilding, and with a $1.7 million signature loan, constructed one of the fanciest hotels worldwide in postfire Chicago. • • • #fever_building #buildingswow #espacioenforma #srs_buildings #estructurarte • #timeless_unlimited #through_the_travel_lens #total_geometric_forms #total_arquitectura #be_one_architecture • #structure_bestshots #excellent_structure #gf_architecture #raw_architecture_ #kings_miark • #architectural_ornamentation #jj_geometry #ig_mnms #ig_brilliant_buildings #ig_ometry • #tv_buildings #tv_leadinglines #tv_pointofview #aspirational_architecture #arkiromantix • #skyscraping_architecture #lookingup_architecture #rustlord_unity #architecture_view #pinnacle_architecture
