Free Things to Do This Spring

Conservatories:

What better way to celebrate spring than to be among nature. Lucky for us, there are two free conservatories near Roosevelt University that are only a train ride away.

        

Garfield Park Conservatory:

300 N Central Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60624
Daily Hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesdays: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Admission: FREE (suggested donation)

Easiest way to get there: Hop on the Green Line toward Harlem/ Lake at Adams/Wabash, ride for 15 min to the Conservatory-Central Park Drive stop. Look at the last picture above. On the left is the Green Line stop, it’s next to the parking lot for the Conservatory!

 

      

Lincoln Park Conservatory:

2391 N Stockton Dr, Chicago, IL 60614
Daily Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Outdoor Gardens: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily
Admission: FREE (suggested donation)

Museums:

Going to museums can get pricey, but luckily most museums offer some discounted tickets for students and offer free admission on certain days.

 

The Art Institute of Chicago:

111 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60603
Daily Hours: 10:30 a.m. —5 p.m. and Thursday until 8 p.m.
General Admission: Student Discount: $14, $14 Chicago Resident, $16 Illinois Resident.
Free Days: General admission is free to Illinois residents every Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

 

The Field Museum:

1400 S Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60605
Daily Hours: 9— 5 p.m.
General Admission: Student Discount: $21
Spring Free Days: April 5-7, May 2

National Museum of Mexican Art:

1852 W 19th St, Chicago, IL 60608
Daily Hours: Tuesday—Sunday 10 a.m.—5 p.m.
Admission: Free, donations encouraged

 

Navy Pier:

600 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611
Daily Hours: Sunday– Thursday 8 a.m.—10 p.m., Friday & Saturday 8 a.m.—10 p.m.
Admission: Free

Adler Planetarium

1300 S Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60605
Daily Hours: 9 a.m.– 4 p.m.
General Admission: Student Discount $10
Spring Free Days: April 2-4 & 9-11 , June 3-5 & 10-13
