Top 10 Reasons to Live in the Wabash Building

Living in a high-rise seems like a dream for most, but Roosevelt makes it a reality. When you live on campus, you occupy the top 17 floors of a 32-story tower with panoramic views of Chicago and Lake Michigan. Life is good at Roosevelt.

Roosevelt is conveniently located in the Loop, the heart of downtown Chicago. From campus, you can easily walk to some of the city’s biggest attractions, such as The Bean, Millennium Park or The Art Institute — and others are only a short public transit ride away! Your options to explore are endless, and your unlimited ride U-pass only makes things easier.

#2 Everything in One Building

One great perk of living in the Wabash Building is that everything you need is conveniently located in the same building. The gym, classrooms, cafeteria, and laundry facilities are all an elevator ride away. Chicago winters are no big deal when you’re comfortably indoors.

#3 Rooms Feel Like Home

Yes, you get to make your space your own while living on campus, but the rooms have a comfortable feeling to them. The floor plans and layout of each residence feel more like an apartment than a traditional dorm room.

#4 Free Laundry

Starting in fall 2018, laundry will be free for all students living in the Wabash Building. No need to worry about lugging around quarters!

#5 Free Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu on the 14th Floor

The 14th-floor common area offers free streaming services for students. No need to cram in one room if you want to get a group together to watch something!

#6 Sense of Community

When living on campus, you not only create great friendships with your roommates, you also feel a sense of belonging. Residence Life hosts tons of events and keeps the space friendly, so you’ll always feel like you’re a part of something more than simply living at school.

#7 Cafeteria with Variety

The McCormick Dining Center on Wabash’s second floor offers a really good selection of food, from a grill to a sandwich station, and salad bar to a rotating selection of hearty entrees. Franklin’s Café also now serves Starbucks drinks!

#8 Amazing Views

The views all around campus are breathtaking, but the ones from the residence halls are astonishing, especially when the sun sets. Depending on which side your room is, you either get a view of Lake Michigan or the city’s endless skyscrapers — either is a sight to see. Who doesn’t want a room with a view?

 #9 Always Something to Do

As mentioned before, Residence Life does an amazing job of keeping students busy and building a sense of community. The Center for Student Involvement also puts on events around campus all the time, whether it’s a movie night or crafting, you won’t ever feel bored.
