What is High Impact Tutoring?
High Impact tutoring is small group tutoring done 3 to 5 days per week during the school day. NEA suggests that it be done with no more that 3 to 5 students per group (Walker, 2024). It is important that the tutors are professionally trained and that the students are consistently with the same tutor.
The goal of High Impact Tutoring is to move students forward and close the learning gap between where the student is performing and their current grade level.
High Impact Tutoring should align with the state standards and complement what is being taught in the classroom. Tutors need to collaborate with classroom teachers in order to better understand the student and the curriculum.
