Michael McCann, (BA Education, ’11) is the business owner and sommelier of award-winning Vacillate Wine and Beer Bar of Miami, Florida.
He will walk you through a presentation that covers the basics of wine tasting: how to hold your glass, what to look for, using your sense of smell, taste, how to give wines a rating, what makes a good wine, what to look for when picking out wine and proper tasting technique.
Come with all your questions about wine — Michael will answer them!

Mike is a wine bar owner and an Advanced Professional Sommelier. He has an extensive background in wine having worked for or with some of the best restaurants in Miami and Chicago. Mike is WSET Level 3 (Advanced) and also CSW (Certified Specialist of Wine) with certificates in Italian Wine and Rioja.
Mike attained a master’s degree in education and worked as a fifth-grade teacher in the Chicago Public School systems and as an instructor in higher education. This allows him to understand the world of education and how to give training and seminars on a multitude of topics — including wine!
His background as an Advanced Professional Sommelier allows him the knowledge and the freedom to know and be constantly learning about wines.
