Update Regarding CCPA Investigation
As you know, we recently shared with you that we had learned about allegations asserted against a faculty member in our Chicago College of Performing Arts. We immediately started an investigation that included conversations with numerous current and former students and faculty members. As I am sure you can appreciate, it takes time to conduct a thorough and thoughtful investigation, particularly as it is incredibly important to us that everyone involved feels heard and respected. We appreciate your patience during that process.
The faculty member against whom the majority of the allegations were asserted is no longer employed with the University. In addition, all new and continuing faculty and administration in CCPA will receive training, on at least an annual basis, regarding important issues such as discrimination, harassment and complaint handling.
We are mindful of the impact that an investigation of this size and visibility can make on current faculty and students as they continue to try to focus on their work in the midst of it. For students, we will soon send out information regarding student-only sessions that will be led by our Assistant Provost for Student Affairs & Dean of Students and our Title IX Coordinator/HR Investigator. For employees, including faculty members, we have an employee assistance program available through our Office of Human Resources.
Above all, please know that it is important to us that we work to ensure that all members of our community, including students and faculty, feel comfortable coming forward with concerns at any time. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Toyia K. Stewart, Vice President of Human Resources, at tkstewart@roosevelt.edu or refer to this page.
