Teaching duties include General Chemistry I (CHEM 201), General Chemistry II (CHEM 202), Organometallic Chemistry (CHEM 319), Inorganic Chemistry (CHEM 341), and Advanced Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory (CHEM 347).
CHEM 341 and 319 are lecture only courses. CHEM 341 uses the text by Miessler, Fischer and Tarr (now in its 5th edition); CHEM 319 uses the text by Crabtree (now in its 7th edition). CHEM 347 uses the text by Szafran, Pike and Singh (still in its first edition) for part of the laboratory portion of the course (original literature is used for other lab projects), and a variety of other materials are used to cover group theory and spectroscopy in the lecture portion of the course.
A newer course on Bioinorganic Chemistry (BCHM 344) was offered first in Fall 2013 and is now offered synchronously on Zoom every two years, including this semester (Fall 2023). We are using the text by Bertini, Gray, Stiefel, and Valentine, “Bioinorganic Chemistry: Structure & Reactivity”. I have a set of PowerPoint presentations based on this text, which is available to anyone interested, by invitation to my Dropbox account.
