Dear Roosevelt Class of 2020,
First of all, congratulations on your remarkable achievement! After this week, you will join an amazing family of Roosevelt University alumni and we wish you all the best in your future plans. We also wanted to take a moment and update you on our plans for our spring Commencement ceremony.
As you are aware, we were hopeful that conditions would improve such that we could postpone our in-person Commencement ceremony to sometime later in the summer. However, it has become clear that while there are some positive signs around the slowing spread of COVID-19, any large gatherings such as graduation will not be permitted throughout this summer.
As disappointing as the situation is, your accomplishments still deserve recognition and celebration. We are pleased to announce that Roosevelt will be holding a virtual Commencement celebration on Friday, June 26. We are making every effort to make this day as engaging as we can while we’re safely in our homes. More information will soon follow, but please be ready to share your favorite photos, stories, and video messages and words of encouragement with us to make that day truly special.
Also, all Spring 2020 graduates will be welcomed back to campus for our Spring 2021 Commencement ceremony in the Auditorium Theatre next May.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding and stay tuned for more details to come.
With warm regards,
Ali R. Malekzadeh, Ph.D.
