Week of April 20 COVID-19 Recap

Thank you for your continued hard work and diligence through these challenging times. We wish everyone continued good health and safety.

Here is our weekly recap:

Governor Pritzker Extends Stay-At-Home Order Through May 30

On Thursday, Governor Pritzker announced the stay-at-home order will extend another 30 days to May 30. Some changes in protocols and restrictions will go into effect to limit the spread of COVID-19.

  • Face coverings will be required in public spaces where one cannot maintain six feet of distance from others.
  • Some state parks will reopen on May 1. A list is available on the Illinois Department of Natural Resources website.
  • Additional businesses will be added to the list of essential businesses.

More details can be found in this Chicago Tribune article, or you can watch the governor’s Thursday press conference on the Illinois.gov website.

Roosevelt’s emergency operations team has formed a subcommittee to focus on the return to campus. Topics that are being discussed and planned out are timing of return, logistics, building cleaning, overall facilities readiness and of course, celebrations.

As the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois guidance changes regularly, we will share more information regarding campus and University operations as it is appropriate.

Summer Schedule Update

For our upcoming spring and summer sessions, all courses scheduled to begin in May, June and July will now be in a remote learning format. An updated schedule for the summer semester’s experiential courses will become available on Friday, May 1.
