Two Special Education Teachers Needed in Ottawa ESD 141

Ottawa Elementary School District is seeking two Special Education Teachers for next Fall. December  2019 and May 2020 graduates are invited to apply.

Grade Level:  7th Grade
Job Certifications:  – Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required.
Duties:   The successful candidate will provide special education instruction in a self-contained (cross-categorical) classroom at Shepherd Middle School.  The number of students in this program typically ranges from five to ten.  While this teacher provides a diverse range of supports and services, there is a separate ED/BD and Lifeskills program for this grade range, which helps the cross-cat room prioritize academic needs.  The cross-categorical teacher will provide reading (Wilson) and math instruction and will have the option to push out for some of the other academic areas, based upon need.  More information will be provided during the interview process.

Start Date: August 2020 (or January 2020 if a December graduate)

Salary/Benefits:  Competitive salary + full board-paid TRS contribution, BCBS health insurance, and other benefits per the collective bargaining agreement.

Duties:   The successful candidate will provide special education instructional services (resource) at Jefferson Elementary School for Kindergarten – fourth graders.  The average number of students is typically 20-25, which is split between two case managers (10-13 each).  The resource teacher will co-teach math, provide additional special education reading time for their caseload, as well as provide other supportive services.  More information will be provided during the interview process.

Start Date: August 2020 (or January 2020 if a December graduate)
