About Us

What is CHESSAC all about?

Mission Statement

CHESSAC equips students for leadership by creating opportunities to serve as ambassadors and advocates for the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences. Its members share student perspectives with the CHESS Dean and other college leaders, and represent the CHESS student experience to current students, prospective students, alumni, and other internal and external constituents.

Background

Founded in 2015 by the Dean of the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences, Bonnie Gunzenhauser, and our advisor, Eileen Hickey, CHESSAC began as a small group of 16 dedicated students. Since then, CHESSAC has continued to grow and expand, creating a greater impact on campus each year. Throughout CHESSAC’s existence, we have updated our bylaws and shifted our vision to ensure we are meeting the needs of the College.  We are always working to streamline our processes and make change at Roosevelt.
