The bulk of my research thus far has been into human rights and the extent to which they are valued by governments and individuals around the world. (For a complete listing of my published work in the area, please see my CV.)
Since 2008, I have had the extreme good fortune to work with Roosevelt alum Joseph Loundy to provide students opportunities to study human rights challenges both in Chicago and abroad. Each year the Joseph Loundy Human Rights Project sponsors a course on a current challenge to human rights. As part of the course, the Project sponsors a public lecture series in Chicago featuring national and local leaders in the year’s designated advocacy area. (Past lectures can be viewed at this page (for events from 2014 on) and on our YouTube channel ( for events prior to 2014) Students then travel abroad for analogous seminars with human rights advocates and scholars in another country (see Student Travel page).
